In barlight she looked alright, in daylight she looked desperate

Road blog: Vegas (again), day 1

I'm back here again, since Las Vegas has become my territory for the jobby job, which suits me just fine. Should be a fairly straightforward gig, the weather is cold for these people which makes it plenty warm for me and I get to see some friends. The fact that Las Vegas is the backdrop is really sort of incidental at this point. If I leaned far enough out my window I could probably see the strip, as the windows are sealed shut I have a fantastic view of the airport, which is always unnerving close and yet shockingly expensive to get to.

Sadly I had to make the wife get out of bed this morning to brave the crunchy snow and the cold and the 494 closure to drop me off at the Minneapolis airport but I'm doing my part as the hunter-gatherer in the relationship by gathering frequent flyer miles so it all works out.

I have learned that if I'm going to fly to Vegas early on a Sunday morning
1) I need to learn to drink at 9am, doesn't matter if I want to or not
2) telling the TSA agent searching my bag I'm going to Las Vegas to work I will not only get through quickly I'll also get a sympathetic "sorry, man" as if I told him I was being sent to move my grandmother into a home. and that home was an alligator farm.

in the latest total small-world happenstance, I'm not only crossing paths with a friend from elsewhere in the country but we're staying in the same hotel. So hopefully this will be the fun Vegas with enough work to keep me busy during the work hours and almost as much to fill the free hours, which is even more important in this city.
