the Youth of Today and the early 7 Seconds taught me some of life's most valuable lessons

First blog of 2009 blog -

New Year's Eve was celebrated with Bacon-Infused bourbon and more bowling
Tons of things going on to kick in the new year, less in the way of resolutions and more in the way of the same old stuff I've resolved to make some quantifiable progress on.
The new IAGG site should be up very soon, as soon as get it hosted somewhere. Just the fact that it's built is already one thing off my goals for 2009 since it required me to give myself a crash course in Flash CS4 and I was victorious - or least I got a site to come out the other side.
The show, of course, returns on the 4th of January and you should be there, even though I wont be. Get your improv on, as Lauren would bellow at you with raised fists.

the Actual Theater Project is the big one that is going to move, and soon if I can help it. Some days I feel like I've done nothing but talk about this forever and haven't done anything to make it closer to reality. Then I realize we're still ahead of the imaginary goal I gave myself last year. Imaginary Victory?

Mix Tape kicks off at ComedySportz tonight and Jill, Nels and I are taking the stage as HUGE to perform with Justin Peirre of Motion City Soundtrack to blow the improv doors off the place.
10:30 tonight (and every Friday in January), ComedySportz, Calhoun Square - $10

TCIF submissions are open for exactly another 13 days.
Don't be like Jill and wonder why your group doesn't appear in the schedule only to realize it's because you didn't send a stupid tape. The TCIF is the most fun you can have this side of Interzone and you do want to be a part of it.

Ka-Baam!! opens January 8th - Sound the Nerd-Horn!!!
Thursdays at 7pm at the Bryant Lake Bowl
$10

Other than that things, like everywhere else, are changing gears in response to the recession that we've been in for a long time. I knew it was serious when I was in Target and one of their featured end-cap products was FLOUR. Soon we'll all have to learn how to make our own clothes out of the fur of whatever animals we can trap or kill by throwing 30Gb Zunes at them. It will be very Tyler Durden.

As nuts as the job can be and as much as I don't like the travel (see "missing first show of the year" above) I'm just happy to have a job these days and having to eat more Ramen and switch to drip coffee instead of French Press Starbucks beans means I'm still doing pretty fucking ok - for that I'm thankful and can look to 2009 for great things.

Cheers everyone, see you at Mix Tape tonight!!
