Monday....if that means anything.
Day at home today, keeping a watchful eye on the wife and kids.
The wife is resting and not feeling well, the boys are being re-introduced to Monsters Inc right now after some gentle reassuring and talking them through the opening scene of the monster sneaking into the bedroom simulator and being scary. All this was in larger preparation for the Monsters Inc rides at DisneyWorld in January.
That's right, we train for these things.
speaking of scary movies, saw the trailer for the new re-boot (or re-imagining or re-launch or whatever the fuck) of the Friday the 13th by Michael Bay and it reminded me that I hate Hollywood when it's doing anything short of delighting my children.
There are no new ideas coming from the people that run studios - not television (where we didn't have one single new show idea that wasn't a reboot or an import from another country this past year) and with rare exception the movie industry, which has been churning out garbage for years and years and blaming kids bootlegging movies on their cellphones for the plummeting box office numbers, is well beyond cannibalizing itself.
At this point they're just pissing into the air and catching it in their mouths.
And every once and awhile they take a break to spray some at us.
how wonderful.
But here's my real gripe about the whole thing:
There are people out there with new and great ideas. Lots of them. I even know some of them. And the statistical probability of any of their ideas making it to a screen in my lifetime is just below that of me discovering a lethal television ad conspiracy, being hit by a computer controlled parking ramp arm, having my brain downloaded by a prepubescent computer science nerd with a parrot and turned into the world's first synthesized reporter.....
that's my complaint. I'd really like to see something new, that's all
and if it could also result in a ride that will make our little ones go all wide-eyed at the very prospect of seeing it - that would be awesome as well.
