post-Halloween and post-travel blog -
Another work trip down and I think I'm actually going to have some time in the state of Minnesota over the next few weeks, which will be nice since I have things piling up around the house that all my caveman instincts are nagging me about. Time to put the grill away for the winter, finish the last of the yardwork projects before the ground eventually freezes and generally get ready to hibernate for the cold months.
the last work trip was Chicago (and by truck instead of plane), which seemed more fun than a normal work trip until reality took over and the long days of driving, loading equipment and setting up until the small hours left no time to get out into the city to see shows, friends or anything further than the ESPN Zone that was 50 feet from the hotel.
Drove back just in time to grab 3 hours of sleep and jump into Halloween mode with the Bat and Pirate by carving pumpkins and stuffing the occasional piece of fruit in their mouths in a lame attempt to balance out the sugar they were about to take in.
the boys had a FANTASTIC Halloween - they're in that perfect age where they're actually the people this holiday was meant for and they can enjoy it. Good for them.
Today we awoke with a little sugar-hangover and dove right into the new Guitar Hero game - which I have to say I love. Even the boring songs are shockingly fun to play, if you had asked me if I was going to get such a kick out of playing Creedence Clearwater Revival I would have told you to go the hell away so I can finish looking for cheat codes to skip all the lame-ass songs the game forces you to complete to unlock things like a trio of Tool songs.
but no - it's ridiculous fun.
Tool is stupidly hard, thanks mostly to being in 5/4, 6/4 and 6/8 time on a game that runs in 4/4 regardless.
today is just the boys and I at home and I plan on putting my feet up, playing a little too much Guitar Hero and letting them eat a little too much candy.
It feels like a holiday.
