Sunday morning blog - lots of run-on sentences ahead. beware.
Since being back off the road I took a couple of days away from the office and basically took a long weekend to spend time with family, recover and catch up on all the little things that have been piling up. While it's kept me running around pretty much everyday since being back I have to say it's still a huge relief just to be here taking care of this side of my life.
Ran tech for Creature Feature Thursday, saw a lot of old friends I don't ever see at a wedding reception, did yard work, had meetings for the Actual Theater, had family pictures taken and generally I've been having a great time being busy.
This Sunday I finally get to return to the IAGG after the long death-march of the Nerd Parade and we traded places with Fingergun to put up One Decent Channel this week so come see Nels and I have some fun onstage and try to get reacquainted with one another and pull off an improv structure we've never even discussed before at the same time. That spells brilliance no matter how you look at it.
Through the few days and weekend off it's been easy (and nice) forgetting that I'm actually leaving town again this coming week and will miss IAGG next Sunday so the relief of being "back" is short lived on that front.
The good news on the next work trip is:
1) it's in Las Vegas, which means I'll actually be able to get out after work no matter when we get done and enjoy where I've been sent for a change. The difference between being a short monorail ride from the MGM Grand and being in a hotel in an office park that's a $50 cab ride to anywhere cannot be overstated.
2) it's with a crew, which makes ALL the difference in the world since being out in Las Vegas alone is depressing. It is a city best enjoyed with friends and just having people to talk to and hang out with makes the time on the job much more fun as well.
But, for now I am here and I'm trying hard to stay focused on what I'm doing here...even if what I'm doing includes going to see Playhouse Disney Live. Which it does. I'm off to see a bunch of graduates of Juliard in Handy Manny costumes puppet-lip-sync to prerecorded kid-pop.
I know they're weeping inside... and that makes it sorta fun.
