Your god is dying much younger than Rome, He’s killed so many he can’t go home

Wednesday blog -

I fully expected todays online ramblings to be all about the State Fair trip last night with the wife and twins - which was super fun despite being at the State Fair. The boys had an unbelievably good time and were nothing but smiles and giggles the entire time, we rode the Sky Ride and the Giant Slide and played carnival games on the Midway and ate things that could only loosely described as "food"

But no - today and most of last night have been totally consumed by the fact that the teenager dropped his pipe in our minivan and we found it last night on the way to the Fair. And, in total teenager fashion, the focus of all of the chaos that has happened since then is how angry HE is at US over the whole thing. Of course.

He even maintains an opinion that we "planted" the pipe in our van, and uses that as a supporting argument to be pissed at us for going through his room and finding his pipe.....even though the whole deal with him was completely based around the fact that drugs were never, ever allowed in our house.
So he admits that the pipe is his, overlooks the fact that had it been found in his room we'd be having an even bigger conversation about how he had drugs IN THE HOUSE, not taking them outside and "planting" them in the van - but any discussion of the pipe in the van is answered with dumb, teenage confusion as if he has no idea what a pipe is.

So if we found it in the house, it's his and how dare we go in his room. Since we found it in the van he has no clue what we're talking about because, obviously, HIS pipe is in the house - but nice try, Parent-Nazis!!

His logic is inescapable - right up there with refusing to come to his own birthday dinner because he's angry with us about going through his room (an assertion he has stood by after pulling out of thin air and throwing out on the phone last night as if it was irrefutable fact - enough so that he's willing to not have a birthday dinner) and telling us he's not coming home for a few days, which always means he's going off on some bender, and missing the paintball game scheduled for his birthday.

The fact that we refuse to learn our lesson from all this must be incredibly frustrating
He'll show us, no matter how much he has to screw up to do it.
That's determination.

When teenagers get caught doing something, they can make one of two choices: 1. realize what they did was wrong and learn from it, or 2. get upset at being caught.

I'm not a fan of the second option.
