hey all, lots of things on the improv front to get out of the way.
I did promise that this blog wasn't going to turn into my to-do list but this is going to occupy a good chunk of my brain for the next month so get used to it. That's right. One month. Sweet zombie jesus.
Yesterday the email challenge went out to all the Mpls performers to get the word to the people about the TCIF (last year Stevie Rays blew everyone away as far as selling their show and they deserve some props, everyone performing should follow their example) and the same goes here. Steal the little TCIF jpeg from this blog, email it, post it on your blog/webpage/myspace/facebook, tell people about the Festival and help us spread the word.
Thanks all.
Workshops are filling up as promised ( I think one or more are now full or very very close.) so if you have not enrolled yet you really really should. HERE
Last year we also had several shows sell out and looking at the lineup for this year you know that will be the case again. BASSPROV w/ Mo Collins will be packed so if you'd like a seat I'd grab one instead of trying to buy at the door. Anyone that misses the double-bill of Ferrari McSpeedy and the Josh & Tamra Show needs a lobotomy with a power drill.
Buy tickets for specific shows HERE
Multi-passes if you're seeing several shows over the festival HERE
speaking of Ferrari McSpeedy ....
This Friday at the FINAL Punch Out: Five Man Job takes on long-time nemses Ferrari McSpeedy in the last head-to-head improv bout before the TCIF and we have to play nice in front of company. I hate those guys.
The proceeds from Punch Out shows support the TCIF and since we get more than a few 'how can I help' emails the answer is this: Pack. This. Show. It will be such a bloodbath you'll forget you're also helping us get the giant behemoth of the TCIF off the ground.
Friday. 11 pm. Brave New Workshop stage. $10
as long as Mike and Joe don't fake their deaths to get out of it. If that happens I'm sure the Stagebenders would be happy to step in.
IAGG:
Last night's IAGG was stellar - usually the weekend after the anniversary show (which is also a holiday weekend) is slow, the weather was great if you weren't in a tornado and we were expecting a mellow show with a few dozen people there and were surprised with a packed house and decided to hit them back with 5 really solid, killer sets.
We had guests in the house from KC and Baltimore improv and hopefully they judge us based on the people that show up to the IAGG. What a great night.
Sex & Aggression returned last night with some new ideas and played a style that was pretty new for us and the results were....dark. Really, I doubt there's anything that could stop us from being dark but this set was super fun and dark as well. I was proud as hell when we left the stage even though there was almost nothing in that set my grandmother would ever need to see or hear.
that's all the improv news. We'll keep playing hard until TCIF and then collapse.
